Can I attend an SI Modular Pathway course if I am not a qualified occupational therapist, physiotherapist or speech & language therapist?

Our accredited SI Modular Pathway courses are designed for qualified occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech & language therapists to develop the skills required to practice Sensory Integration Therapy in the context of their particular professional background. Medical doctors and psychologists registered with HCPC or have GMC registration (or the equivalent) can apply for SI Module 1 only. Applicants from other backgrounds will first need to take the three day Understanding Sensory Processing course and will then need to be assessed on an individual basis by our Education committee to ensure that they have the appropriate knowledge and understanding required for SI Module 1.

Only occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech & language therapists are eligible to take SI Module 2/3 which is required to practice sensory integration therapy. Applicants from other backgrounds are not eligible to take the SI Module 2/3 course.

The SI Network understands that there is a desire from non occupational therapists, speech & language therapists and physiotherapists to receive accredited training in sensory integration and we will be looking into this in the future.

In the meantime, we do offer the 3 day Understanding Sensory Processing course.

The majority of our other courses are open to everyone.  More information.

In September 2011 our modular pathway courses were updated to meet new accreditation requirements from the University of Ulster, so that we can offer a new Masters degree in Sensory Integration. In the past, academic accreditation was optional, but now all the modular courses require an assignment to be completed.
